Huy Ho

BOptom (Melbourne), CertOcTher (ACO), Optometrist & Ophthalmic Medicines Prescriber, CASA Credential Optometrist

Huy (Huey) is a Therapeutics trained clinical optometrist with 16 years of experience in Queensland.  Graduating from Melbourne University in 2002, Huy gained experience by working in private and corporate practices. In 2004 he opened his independent practice in south-west Brisbane. Huy is an advanced contact lens practitioner with particular interests in orthokeratology and complex contact lens fittings.

He also has an interest in treatments reducing myopia progression and managing patients with ocular and systemic conditions including dry or watery eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes. Huy also works at the South East Queensland Centre of Excellence in ATSI Primary Health Care, where he helps manage complex eye diseases. He is also a visiting optometrist to the Indigenous Diabetes Eyes and Screening (IDEAS) service at Charleville and Mount Isa. Huy has developed extensive knowledge of pre- and post-eye surgical management for conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, pterygium and laser refractive surgery.

Huy recently has undertaken further studies to become qualified to perform eye examinations for the purposes of pilot licensing on the behalf of Civil Aviation Safety Authority for those requiring Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 aviation licences.

Huy’s other hobbies outside of optics include boating, fishing, camping, tennis, badminton and golf.  To keep fit, Huy runs numerous marathons a year throughout Australia, and has done so for the past 15 years and counting.

He speaks English and Vietnamese fluently and knows some Mandarin Chinese. He lives in south-west Brisbane with his wife and 2 children.

Emily Ho

Practice Manager

Emily was previously an aged care nurse. However, she has found her passion in the optical field after working in a mix of independent and corporate optometry clinics. She now has 14 years of clinical experience as an optical dispenser.

Emily has worked alongside some renowned optometrists in Melbourne and Brisbane specialising in advanced and soft contact lenses. She also has experience in some laboratory work, cutting and fitting optical prescription lenses. She can provide you with all cases of complex lens designs and fitting to all range of frames.

Besides her passion for optics, she also has a love for home-cooking and dining, travelling, latin dancing, photography and doing charity work. Emily is also bi-lingual and speaks English and Vietnamese fluently.

Naiomi Pham

Optical Dispenser
Bachelor Biotechnology Innovations (Hons).  Queensland University of Technology.

Naiomi’s background is in the commercialisation of medical safety inventions.  She developed an interest in optics after taking her mother for eye surgery. She stayed in the optical industry and now has 8 years’ experience as an optical dispenser and Practice Manager.

She is a mother of 2 children and enjoys planning and organising, interior design, teaching, charity work and salsa dancing. Naiomi is also bi-lingual and speaks English and Vietnamese.

Jamin Flohr

Optometrist and Ophthalmic Medicines Prescriber

Jamin (Jay) graduated from the QUT School of Optometry in 1996 and later completed his Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics.

Since then, he has worked as an optometrist in both rural and suburban areas, gaining experience with a broad range of people and their eye care needs. His interests include management of eye conditions such as dry eye, cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, as well as the ocular repercussions of general health problems such as diabetes. Jamin has a particular interest in patient education. He enjoys helping people understand what is happening to their eyes and the best way to care for them.

During a sabbatical from optometry, Jamin completed a Bachelor of Science and PhD in Mathematics, and consequently lectured mathematics at UQ Ipswich.

On his days off, Jamin enjoys board games (multi-player games: think Catan, not Chess) and pop culture (eg Marvel Cinematic Universe and Supanova). A few years ago, he achieved his lifelong goal of attending all four tennis grand slams.

Jamin lives with his wife and 2 mischievous cats.

Sabrina Khan

Optometrist

Sabrina graduated from QUT Kelvin Grove in 2002 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Optometry. She has a keen interest in dry eyes among full scope Optometry practice. Sabrina will take time to explain your ocular health and vision needs. She has a friendly manner that allows for open communication. In her spare time Sabrina enjoys pilates, reading and spending time with family and friends over good food.

Mary, a seasoned Optometrist with 25+ years’ experience, excels in precise spectacle and contact lens prescriptions. Her expertise shines in addressing complex ocular challenges, including dry eyes, cataracts, and eye diseases. Committed to continuous learning, Mary attends numerous conferences annually to stay current in her field. As a proud member of the Optometrist Association of Australia, she embodies care and compassion in her practice, prioritizing the well-being of her patients.

Therese Kelly

Optical Dispenser, Artist

Therese Kelly has been working in optometry for almost 5 years. She is keenly interested in customer service and helping customers feel special and confident with their choice of spectacles. She has a knack of helping people choose what suits their style, personality, and environment. She listens to the customer and gains a knowledge of what they are looking for.

Therese is a practicing artist when she is not working for Vision Precinct. She exhibits her bold, colourful art through galleries in Brisbane. You will often see her wearing our most colourful frames in store.

Therese is always welcoming to new and existing clients and has developed lasting friendships with many of them.

Caley Walker

Optical Dispenser

Caley Walker joined us in March 2022, bringing her friendly charm and a background in retail and hospitality. In the past year and a half, she’s been a go-to person when it comes to picking the right pair of glasses and staying in the loop with the latest eyewear trends. Caley has a knack for making our youngest customers feel comfortable during their first eye test, thanks to her warm and welcoming nature.

When she’s not helping customers, you’ll often find Caley working on lens fittings or making adjustments to glasses right in the store.

Outside of work, Caley is a full-time student studying paramedic science, showing her commitment to personal growth. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with family and friends, spending time with her two dogs, and catching the latest music events and festivals, all while soaking up the beautiful Gold Coast sun.

Caley brings a down-to-earth blend of professionalism and approachability to our team, making her a valuable member of our crew.

Amanda Jones

Amanda has been an invaluable member of the Vision Precinct team since our store opened in September 2019. With a strong background in administration and customer service, Amanda brings her well-honed skills to enhance your experience with us.

Known for her remarkable ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, Amanda’s warm and friendly nature has made her a cherished favourite among our regular patients. Whether it’s scheduling appointments, assisting in lens selection, or guiding you to the most stylish frames, Amanda is your trusted partner for all your optical needs.

Originally hailing from Sydney, Amanda and her husband have proudly called the Gold Coast home since 2008, where they are raising their two wonderful children. On weekends, Amanda enjoys nothing more than quality time with her family and their extensive network of loved ones.

Callista Doan

Callista’s journey with Vision Precinct began in 2022, after her experience as a dental assistant and dedication as a before-and-after school care OSHC educator. Currently she is studying Psychology with aspirations for a master’s in Speech Pathology, Callista is passionate about helping people improve and grow.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Callista volunteers at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, demonstrating her commitment to the well-being of others. She finds immense joy in witnessing patients’ transformations, from apprehension about eyesight to the clarity of vision with glasses.

Callista’s role extends beyond optics; she thrives on learning about people and the world through their unique stories while assisting them in selecting frames. Building deeper connections beyond the customer-worker relationship is her forte.

Outside of work and studies, Callista is a foodie, enjoys quality time with friends and family, gets lost in the pages of a good book, and finds solace in the great outdoors. Callista’s friendly and compassionate approach makes her an integral part of our team.
